Hampstead member Susan Isaacs has had six of her paintings chosen for an exhibition at Bloomsbury's prestigious Goodenough Collegea>, hosted by the lady Mayoress for International Womens Day.
The theme for the event ties in with Goodenough College’s ‘Maive Society’, named after Maive Goodenough, Frederick Goodenough’s wife whose idea it was to start the college. This College society celebrates ‘unrecognised or invisible women throughout history’. The theme is supported by music, art, and poetry from both Livery and Goodenough members, which will be displayed throughout the Main Hall, forming thought provoking, informal talking points while we network.
A celebration of women
The event will include arrival to music from Goodenough College musicians, drinks and canapes while you view our art installations and meet the artists.
Welcome from The Lady Mayoress, followed by a Fireside Chat with Dame Susan Langley, DBE (Alderwoman & Sheriff) who will talk about her own journey towards her role as Sheriff of the City of London, sharing some of her experiences and thoughts on ‘invisible women’.
Susan is delighted to be included in the exhibition and this honour is in addition to many other successes.
Unexpected Success
Susan began painting portraits during lockdown for pleasure. She posted a few pieces on Linked In, and to her delight and astonishment, was then commissioned by Francine Stock, former chair of the Tate Members, and Diane Lennan, Director of the Barbican and Serpentine Art Galleries. Susan then started painting seriously and has sold 25 portraits to date, in countries as far as Canada and Norway, and has produced portraits for several WIBN members
