I Love That I'm In Charge Of My Days

To celebrate International Women's Day 2022 we are shining a light on our fabulous members and their stories.

Each and every single one of them has an inspiring story about starting their own business. So read on to find out more.

Andrea Trestyen, owner of Bettery Coaching

What first drew you to starting your business?

I spent 13+ years in the corporate world and even though as a fresh grad I enjoyed its vibe, after a few years I've come to realise that it's not for me. I've formulated my 'escape the City' plan for many years but didn't really have a true 'calling' until I came across coaching for kids ad when my eldest son was 6 months old/ I signed up in the hope that I can learn some techniques to help my son once he gets to the tricky age and not really because I wanted to be a coach.

I only truly thought about coaching as a career while working on my case studies, getting great feedback from my 'clients'. My office job never gave me that rewarding experience so it just 'felt right' to start my coaching career.

What is the best thing about being your own boss?

I love that I'm in charge of my days and I can work around my family commitments as well as my mood! I was especially grateful for this during the darkest days of the pandemic when so many things were beyond our control.

What's your advice to other women going into business?

Focus on your passion to help others and the rest will follow.

What is your top tip for success?

Surround yourself with like-minded and successful business owners as their passion will lift you up, too. Join a mentorship program or get a mentor - or both!

Tell us something about yourself we might not expect?

As a teen, I was fascinated with ancient Egypt and I wanted to be an Egyptologist! Not quite sure how that would have worked out, though, as I am not a big fan of sand.
