After many years working in the banking and finance industry, Judith Andrews was made redundant in 2016. Taking the opportunity to become self-employed, Judith invested in a franchise for a luxury cat hotel and opened Longcroft Margate in May 2017; and at the same time set up a virtual assistant service supporting SMEs and entrepreneurs.
In early 2018, Judith was asked by a client to look into the forthcoming new data protection rules – GDPR. This request evolved into Judith’s focus on helping SMEs meet their responsibilities under the data protection legislation while making the most of the valuable asset that is customer information.
Judith now only offers data protection support and advice to her clients. She has worked with over 200 clients from solopreneurs to organisations employing 100 people across sectors including Healthcare (GP Federations and Practices; Therapists; Counsellors and Coaches), Schools, Charities, Membership groups, Construction, Betting and Gaming and other consultants (IT; Virtual Assistants; Marketing and PR; HR; Accountants). Services range from acting as the named Data Protection Officer, short-term consultant, or advising on one-off projects. Judith prides herself on giving pragmatic and bespoke advice and guidance, ensuring that all her clients understand what is expected of them under the data protection legislation and also making sure that they benefit from using the personal information in their organisation, fairly and securely.
She is a qualified privacy professional (CIPP/E), a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, an accredited member of the Data and Marketing Association, and a Fellow of the Institute of Administrative Management.
