To celebrate International Women's Day 2022 we are shining a light on our fabulous members and their stories.

Each and every single one of them has an inspiring story about starting their own business. So read on to find out more.

Sally Bycroft, owner of La Cucina Italiana

What first drew you to starting your business?

I became inspired by the way the Italians celebrate life through food. They love to bring people together to share food as a gift, family time, at time to pause from the business of the day…They eat healthily, locally and seasonally…. I wanted to bring that ethos back to dining over here and share some of my passion for cooking with other people.

What is the best thing about being your own boss?

Probably the people I meet. I love making someone’s party extra special. I love seeing people’s faces when they taste something they have never tried before! I love making people smile and warming their hearts through the dishes I create.

What's your advice to other women going into business?

Go for it! Aim for the moon, and you will get the stars as well… never give up on your dream because if you put your mind to it, anything is possible

What is your top tip for success?

Learn how to say ‘No’! Honour your values, and remember how far you have come…. Be proud of your achievements!

Tell us something about yourself we might not expect?

When I was a teenager I used to get quite enraged if asked to go out to eat on a date. I couldn’t see the attraction of eating in front of someone! I used to get quite worked up about it. Maybe, I’m just a messy eater!
